The side of the body is very similar to the Austin-Healey 100/3000. But the front is different and the body seems to have been made of grp?
A Turner?
The car has a fiberglass body. It is neither a Turner nor a Austin-Healey.
Buckler?
Regards
Glenn
No, not one of those.
Can it be a british EB (Edwards Brothers) from 1959-1964?
Nope.
Not from the UK.
The chassis of this car is based on a famous British make, but the drivetrain is indigenous to the country in which it was constructed, as pictured above.
Fair dinkum, eh mate?
Ooooooooooh..... :o
scurries off to the hunt.
A FAIRTHORPE BODYSHELL POWERED BY HOLDEN .
This car ran with a Holden engine; not a Fairthorpe.
Our more adventurous sleuths might be interested to know this very car is for sale, right now.
Now, throw away that Vegemite sandwich, get youself a bowl of bean sprouts, and get Googling! ;D
Devin SS?
Not a Devin.
How about a Buchanan?
No one of those.
<bump>
Perhaps one of our fans of "California Specials" can chime on this one?
A 1957 Triden Sports, to which I raise a glass of cheap domestic white wine :)
Wow - you guys are running the tables! Well done, sir! Correct again. ;D
This is in fact a repost, but from a very long time ago.
So what is it, from when - for 1 point?:

Holden?
It's not a Holden, but there is some Holden in there..
Experts?
This is the 1957 Triden, made by Ron Tonkin. It has a Triumph Renown chassis, and a Holden grey motor, as well as gearbox and diff.

That is indeed the car, although some of the facts you quote differ from what I have.
For the point I need to know:
Who originally built the car and when (not 1957)?
When was it re-bodied by Ron Tonkin?
What chassis is the car based on (not a Renown)?
Locked for you to dig deep!!
It depends on which source of info you go on. I took everything from the information on this attached image. The original builder was Graham Driscoll in 1956. All agree that it's a 1949 Triumph chassis, but a 2000 not a Renown. I think a Renown would be more likely, as they were a more common car than the 2000 in Australia. It was re-bodied in 1959?
Looks like a magazine article and of course mags are notorious for getting things wrong..
Below is the info as I have it but frankly I don't know who is right and who's wrong!
The stories only differ in minor details though so the point is yours and this is solved.
I'll have to merge it with the original puzzle from the Stone Age though!
QUOTE
The Triden is an Aussie Special built in 1956 by Graham Driscoll using a chassis and running gear from a 1949 Triumph 2000 roadster with motor, gearbox and diff by Holden. Fibreglass body was fitted in 1959 by Ron Tonkin and has been raced at Mallala and Collingrove. Restored in 2000 and recently registered (conditional/club). Please identify this special for a point. Who built it, when and what was its name? A point is waiting for you!

From Europe?
no
That's the Triden Sports from 1957 a one-off Australian fibreglass special built on a 1949 Triumph 2000 roadster chassis.
It is, congrats
The colour and the number gave it away ;)
I've merged this one (again!) but have put the picture from this new puzzle into Otto's original post as that picture had vanished completely..
Original pic restored :)
