Just under $42 dollars a month.  That is how the new hosting costs are breaking down.  Our growth and the growth of the money supply is only gonna drive those costs higher.

The ads are on the site to help deflect those costs.  Please give them the attention (click) they deserve.

Let's all be sure to support the advertisers who support AutoPuzzles this Christmas season. Their wares are only one click away.

One more month and our budget is exhausted. Please remember the Donate button in the profile section on the top of each page and thanks for being a part of AutoPuzzles.

How much to keep the lights on for 1 month?

Sorry - I see it listed above. Let me see if I can scrape that together. Meantime, how much do you net from each ad click?

The ad clicks are all variable. It depends on the ad, the time spent on the ads site, etc. It helps, alot, but it ain't gonna get the job done on it's own.

Thx to Gerd for your contribution!!!

I wasn't looking at clicks as an all-out alternative. Having some idea of the math behind them helps to make suggestions as to how to help. I.e, 1 click = $X, therefor "Y" clicks per member, per month equals $?.

I click on the ads quite a bit, but hadn't thought to let them stay open. I also suspect Google Lead Services can see that the bulk of my clicks come from one of two primary IP addresses.

On a similar note, rather than a one-time mention here to thank members for their donations, how about adding statuses (similar to 'feature writer') such as Gold, Silver or Bronze Supporter?

One last thing. If the members are amenable, perhaps we could sell via Amazon or other mechanisms, collections of photos from our images section? Those photogs who do their own shooting (Grob, Allemano, etc.,) could achieve Gold status, for instance, by allowing the inclusion of their work in such publications.

Just thinking out, in text.

The book reviews here get quite a few views so following from Otto's Amazon idea could we put affiliate links from the reviews to Amazon which has a very good, and easy to use affiliate program?

Thanks to sales@completegauge and Paul Jaray for their generous donations.

Your support of this site and it's advertisers make all the difference folks.  It is appreciated.

I'll do my bit if we all agree on something.

$50 is what it costs to keep this place afloat for one month. Many have donated more but $50 has seemed to end up the agreed upon amount.

Am I being thick? I can't see a 'donate' button anywhere...

Otto Puzzell

It should be under the logo, the the top right of the page

Also thanks go out to Ogurrerob and Neilshouse for their generous contributions.

Folks, the budget is starting to feel the pressure, the time to step up and financially support your favorite Name that Car website is now.  Adjust the formatted width of your screen if you have to, but at the top right of this page is a donate button and we could sure use your support.

Just saying..... (beggin' really)

I dunno what's happnin, but I can't see the "Donate" link anywhere.  I've tried 3 different browsers and haven't been able to see it.  Maybe it's right in front of my nose, but....well, I prolly need new glasses anyway.  :)

Here's a screen dump from IE.  I cut it down from 1920 to 1024:

ps.  The "Privacy" link returns a 404.

It is on the top right in the forum, not the front page.  If you can't see it as you normally view the forum you can see it in the pics in page one of this thread, if you format your screen to a larger setting or if you log out of the forum.

Everyone:

Costs are $49.99 a month.

Same with me after I spent a long time trying to find it......

Your screen is formatted too small.

I really don't think it's the screen size. I've mentioned this before, and it's still the same with all browsers I use here in the UK. The "Donate" button is only visible when I am logged out of the forum. Here are a couple of screencaps. I think I may have posted something similar before.

RayTheRat

Tom: I agree completely.  It's reproducible and easily tested.  Log out, you'll see the "Donate" panel.  Log in, it goes away.  Does it with Firefox, Opera and IE....kinda rules out a browser issue.  My screen dimensions are 1920x1080 on both of my monitors (I run a dual monitor setup.)  That kinda rules out a screen dimension issue.

I wish I was familiar with the Simple Machines structure (I downloaded the source and I don't speak php) but I'm not.  There's gotta be an executable statement that turns that panel off when a user logs in, tho.  One would think that commenting that line out would be a fairly simple test.

I've been looking and I can't figure out why the donate button doesn't show up for you guys.  It does for me in every instance I use it, even my iphone and I am at a loss as to why is shows up for some and not for others.

Strange - I also use Safari on a MacBook but can only see it when I'm logged out (which I rarely do).
I will make a donation but just hope that others haven't given up because they can't find the donate window.... :-\
