Who knows this car?

Bill Murray

Probably way off base, but perhaps started life as a BMW 335 of the
1939/1941 period??

QuoteProbably way off base

No - it started life as a standard BMW of the ca.1936-1939 period.

But it was not a 335...

Bill Murray

OK...

The louvers in the side of the motor hood are different from almost any
normal BMW of that era.
Is the coach builder German??

hondast

BMW 328 '39 bodied by Müller?

grobmotorix

Wendax

grobmotorix

Yes it has been built after WW II.

And the body is made from aluminium, that´s all I can tell you...

I´d really like to learn more about this one.

Bill Murray

I too am impressed.
Just for fun, I keep a stopwatch on my computer desk and keep a record of how much time I spend on each quiz puzzle.
I spent about 1 1/2 hours on this BMW and came up with nothing.
In fact, I have never even heard of this coachbuilder, you learn something every day.

Nice job.

I´ve never heard of "Blechnerei Müller" from Freiburg/Germany before, too.

And I only do know this one photo.
I´d love to get more information about this one.

I knew hondast's pic from some other forum, but woudn't have matched it the puzzlecar.  :-\

grobmotorix

Same thing with me.
I´ve scanned one old Hobby magazine in 2004 with exactly the same photography:

Wendax

A fine sportscar from the 1930s.

For one point, please respond and identify this car by naming its base and for whom it was built by whom.

targhediferro

Clearly a Bmw,  is it a 328?

Wendax

Wendax

Yes, but that was the easy part.

bubenator

Müller Karosseriebau?

Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich?

I have located an image of what appears to be the same car with the rear wheel cover removed, and the website asserts that it's not a 319.
