I understand it was built from a kit (though I don't know the name of that kit)..

I have just a couple of pics of it...they came from Amsterdam - Amersfoort area but there's nothing much about it.
It had a VW chassis,  no engine and Italian license plate.
Here's an automatic translation of what I have:

"My first kit car not built by myself but bought in 1967 for FL. 25. There was no engine and I had to push it home with my friends. It had a VW-chassis and there was no valid vehicle registration. I've had an Italian license plate set up that I had gotten by former racing driver Jan Brandsma who along with Rob Dijkstra formed the Sony racing team. In really have (without a license, that could then) in driven we reason about the old state road Amsterdam-Amersfoort and Baarn back to the bit of Bussum, be 110 km per hour."

And that's all I know about it too!
I was looking just for the fact that it was a VW kit-car that he got from Jan Brandsma so that's solved it!

Italian?

Don't know of any Italian connection, no.

I really apologise for misleading you here; the car was on Italian plates (aren't they Export plates?) and had an "I" on the rear, which I knew but had completely forgotten.  I'd been concentrating on the fact it was VW-based but I wonder if it was in fact Italian-made.

I believe He just got the license plates from JB...but I've never been able to find out what is that or who built it.
A front view would help but it doesn't seem so accurate for a kit-car.

Brandsma of the mentioned racing team had the plates probably from cars he bought from Abarth.
