Just from the engine cover alone, I'd guess Abarth. But that's a WAG with no backup whatsoever.

Good guess, it is a Vignale-bodied coupé based at the Abarth 750. The car competed in the mount Vesivius hillclimb in the early 60s. The car was driven by Silvio Mandato and won its class.

So that explains why a search for Abarth Zagato turned up nothing. And the lack of the characteristic Bialbero design.

Vignale - I would not have guessed that.  :)

Same era as my Nardi Abarth, it had that same rear hood scoop combination.......that's how I found the pic of the Nardi. It's also why I didn't enter this particular puzzle, since I already knew it.

Well done, guys........

That is a wonderful site for Vignale information - one of the most creative, yet unsung automobile designers. Of course, Michelotti did a great deal of the Vignale designs and then went on to a triumphant career designing errr.... Triumphs.

I have this site bookmarked, which is why I didn't enter this puzzle. It eventually led me to the "official" Vignale site where I found the pic of my former car - the Abarth Nardi 750.

Ummm... seems I have this site bookmarked too. I just wasn't resourceful or clever enough to check my bookmarks.

If nothing else, one garners insight as to the meaning of my screen name.

"Jeez, what a porridgehead."

Yep. 'Fraid so.  ;)

Re my screen name: I have a hell of a time finding a speedo that fits well.  :P

Suddenly, the pleasant image I've always had for tiny Double-Bubbles has taken an unfortunate turn.  :o

Maybe way to late, but would it be possible to delete the link?

Well, thanks for drawing my attention to it, Allemano, I hadn't spotted it.
