Great article. My wife's minivan has all sorts of debris acculated from driving two little kids (or more since she did run a dayhome for a while) around. I'm positive there are new strains of bacteria or mold unknown to modern science growing in there aided by old coffee cups, donut crumbs and spilled juice. Myself I usually keep my vehicles clean and free for junk but don't baby them. My old Spitfire was driven top down in the snow, my old Rx-7 carried a ladder inside, my recently departed Neon carried various auto parts including a rear axle and transmission. I even managed to wedge the frame and body panels for my Lotus Seven clone into my wife Nissan Quest.

I just spent this afternoon cleaning out 5 months and 10,000 miles' worth of crap from my car. It utterly amazes me how many odds and ends were camped out under the seats. Cleaning out a vehicle can be a trip down memory lane, finding wrappers from food I'd forgotten eating, or discovering receipts from gas stations all across the western US.
