To anyone concerned, I seem to have trouble attaching images to posts, which makes it somewhat difficult to post my own puzzles sometimes.

I get the following error message,
Database Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
File: /home/content/K/a/r/KarnUtz/html/forum/Sources/Post.php
Line: 1162Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/content/K/a/r/KarnUtz/html/forum/Sources/Load.php
Line: 1200
Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0

Almost every time I try to post an attachment, it takes up to 5 attempts to successfully post an image.

Can anyone help?

Allan L

We have had this problem all over the world, and it's reported somewhere (where it can't easily be found) which was a current thread at the time.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Allan L summarized well.  If you can post here when this occurs I can try to address it but I don't know if I can fix it or not.

Has happened without fail for the last 20 quizzes at least.

Are you able to get them to load eventually or not at all?  The more detail you give me the better.

Plus, too and also, if you can host your images offsite you can inline with the [img] function.

As I wrote before, the joy of this site is that you can (usually) post images directly, unlike most where they have to be hosted somewhere and than accessed.
I can't be bothered with Image Shack/Flickr/etc. all of which give trouble themselves, I understand

Yes, I have always managed to attach them.

The process goes as follows: Post a thread with attached image, error message appears and thread does not get posted. Post thread without image, edit post to attach image, error appears, edit once more and then image attaches.

Any other information you need? I run the latest version of Mozilla, haven't tried with a different browser yet. Time of day or image size doesn't matter.
Same principle with replies containing images, reply will not post with an attachment so they have to be edited in.

I do have a photobucket account and post the multi quiz puzzles using that account for organization purposes, it allows more images to be posted at once, but I prefer standard attachment systems for single posts to maintain the post integrity. A third party host can lose pictures at any time and thus puzzles can lose the images in them, only a server crash or personal intervention can do the same with attachments. Seems better to me that way.

@re

In my case, the first post I make with an attachment after having logged on causes the error message. When trying again, it practically always works. If I make another posting with an attachment after that, it normally works the first time.

Today, the system was particularly generous, as I was able to make four postings in the Index topic, with 11-12 pics attached to each, on first try!

So I'm not the only one then, although it's more strict with me.seemingly.

I just tried 2 seconds ago with IE, no dice, same error appears.

I have just made a small change to the attachment system.  It probably won't make much difference but it might.  I am at a loss as to how to fix this but I am working on it.

Great,  will try it out to see if it's any better.

And also they will always post, and even if they don't there's other methods of getting images here. It certainly won't stop me posting here, I just thought it might be worth making you aware of.  :)

Posting first and then editing the post does seem to help.

I just attached an image in a new thread first time. Just about the first time I can remember that happening, although I'm not sure that this is because of @re's phenomenon, or because it's fixed... Will keep an eye out for it.

Still having the problem, no matter what I seem to change ever time.

Any news on the "Trouble posting attachments" front, Ultra?

I know all the tricks and they don't do any good anymore. Sometimes I have to wait several hours to get an image through.

I have been asked to give a tutorial on attachments and thought this would be a good place.

Below the posting window is a line in blue with a white arrow in front of it saying Additional Options...

Click those words and some exciting new options become available.  After you peruse them for a few seconds click the Browse button and find the pic you wish to attach.  When you find and click the pic to load it's filename into the Attach submission box you merely click the post button and wait.

Hope this helps.

Yesterday I've just helped and taught the ropes to a new Expert.
But we Europeans still experience the lazyness or total rebuke of the server to accept our uploads, as it's happening to me right now.
