Intermeccanica Centaur - a 1970 one-off built by Carrozzeria Intermeccanica for some american doctor.

Hello everyone, my first post and my first puzzle solved :)
BTW, some of you probably know me from the ucp forum under the name go.pawel
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Otto Puzzell

Nope, I don't know you, but glad to meet you. Welcome to AutoPuzzles, ImpishGrin! :)

And you are, of course, correct. That's the Intermeccanica Centaur.

Another formidable rookie is amongst us!  :nerves:

I most certainly know mr. go.pawel from UCP, welcome. It seems Mateusz dragged you across? :)

A two-point puzzle. One point for identifying this car - who built it, what powers it, for whom was it built and when. A second point if you can provide a photo of it after completion!

Experts finally have a chance

I'm not the only one who sees an old Granada in it, then?

barrett

Not built anywhere in the Americas

RayTheRat

Four doors and 5-lug wheels....Australia?

RayTheRat

Then the next guess would be, of course, New Zealand.

Delorean

Those rims look like DeLorean-rims ...

barrett

Not from NZ, and this car pre-dates the Delorean

mymokke

Is it built on a GM base, any of the European satelite companies?

barrett

There is a GM car under there somewhere, though not a European one

richard cuyler

Well, despite Brussels' best efforts, Britain isn't yet quite European, so maybe Vauxhall Ventora?

barrett

I'm pretty certain Britain is part of Europe!! Anyway, no Vauxhall bits here. The engine & drivetrain are sourced from the most famous GM brand.

RayTheRat

Since the wheels are Corvette Vortex-style, is the car built on a Corvette platform?

barrett

Corvette is right!

A 24hr lock for you to see what else you can dig up....

RayTheRat

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything and I'm in the last-minute (whole week) thrash to get ready for the salt flats.  So go ahead and open it up and if I run across something and no one else has found it, I'll chime in.
