The roofline and the size reminds me of an Opel Manta A.

SeaLion's second guess was the closest so far, though off by some miles and one language.

This prototype bears some resemblance to a production model that followed, but not too much. And as the inestimable Mr. Lion surmised, there was a strong American streak in this car's look.

Then if it isn't an Opel and "is off by some miles and language" it should be a Vauxhall prototype. Perhaps the Firenza or the earlier Victor since this is a B&W photo?

Commodore? Perhaps too early for that. Cresta? Ventora sketch since it is a two door? Looks nothing like a Wyvern (too modern) but a Velox coupé sketch?

A friend of mine has a early 70s in a field and the prototype and production look almost nothing. Not sure which is better though. :D
