Golly - I thought this one would have garnered a guess or two.  :)

Looks like a Dodge Polara - sort of - with the very rare "thru the hood air filter access" option.   ;D

OK, it IS American though, right?  Kinda has a little bit of Thunderbird to it in the rear sail and trunk.  And those wheels. I have seen those wheels some place.    Hmmmmmmm........

Oh, wait! I have it!!!   Aisle 72 at WalMart!     ;D

Is this car in the Pro Puzzles now?  If so, I can say that it's a [or THE...since there was only one...] 1966 Studebaker Sceptre concept car.  As I remember, it was designed by Brooks Stevens, and was built in Italy by Sibona-Bassano.  The trim is different on the other side of the car.  That's a light bar above the grille...the headlights went across the front end, like the 1986 Mercury Sable.

Studebaker Sceptre it is!  :)

Puzzles that go unsolved for 5 days in the Rookie section move to the Pro puzzles section.

Since World War II, the South Bend, Indiana, auto manufacturer Studebaker had retained the services of New York designer Raymond Loewy for their styling needs. In 1961 the company's new management hired Stevens to compete directly with Loewy, resulting in a rivalry that persisted throughout the two men's careers. Stevens and his staff brought crisp, rigid lines to their work for the company, including the 1962 GT Hawk. He continued working for Studebaker as the manufacturer-despite Stevens' efforts-spiraled into bankruptcy. Several of his innovative prototypes never made it to the assembly line, including the Sceptre shown here. Designed in 1963 and projected for the 1966 model year, it was among the first cars to have a solid band of headlights in the front.
