Today, dear friends and colleagues, I submit to you a puzzle of a different sort. A devilishly difficult dirty dozen of transportation devices, in need of identification. Some are difficult, some are easy. However, to be declared the winner on this particular puzzle, you must correctly ID all 12 of the vehicles shown, per the criteria given below each picture. No points for 1, 2, 3....etc. You must ID all 12. If you are the first to do so, I'll award 12 points (one per car), plus a bonus (for solving the puzzle).
Can you stand the pressure, knowing that if you guess early, and ID one or more of these cars, you are most assuredly helping a fellow puzzler get the points? Do you dare tip your hand early? Or will you lie in wait, pouncing at the last possible moment – perhaps waiting too long?
Are you up the challenge?
Let's begin:

Also, please be sure to check out our other puzzles, and, please post a puzzle of your own if you'd like - the more, the merrier. :D
Thanks!
Any hints on which ones are easy? Looking at that dirty dozen I am drawing not just a blank but on a lot of them, I don't even know where to start.
Nice puzzle Karn.
Oh this is devishly diabolical of your, Master Utz. IF we guess, we risk revealing important information to others. If we DON"T guess, then we never find out nuthin'. Cruel, cruel, Utz! :D
Maybe two of us could solve the task together?
I know:
#1 - the production base car
#2 - i have an idea of both make and model (complete)
#3 - -
#4 - make, model and base car (complete)
#5 - i have an idea of the production base car
#6 - -
#7 - i think i have seen it earlier
#8 - make and model (complete)
#9 - -
#10 - i have seen it earlier
#11 - -
#12 - -
good idea.
this is what I think I know
#1 as you said
#2 100% sure
#3 100% sure
#4 no idea, but you seem to know :)
#5 will find it on my hard drive
#6 100% sure
#7 I may know the base car
#8 I have it on my hard drive
#9 90% sure
#10 100%sure
#11 no idea
#12 looks familiar, we´ll find it...
You guys are doing great. I'll have to make the next one more difficult. ;)
After some searching my list looks like this:
#1 - the production base car
#2 - make and this very model (complete)
#3 - make, model and country of origin (complete)
#4 - make, model and base car (complete)
#5 - -
#6 - -
#7 - -
#8 - make and model (complete)
#9 - make, 99% sure about the model, but no clues who built it
#10 - "make" and model (complete, but the car is just a construction firm's concept, not a "make")
#11 - -
#12 - -
is #11 an electric truck, maybe a Brockway?
the bumper looks american...
maybe there´s another pic that shows it from another angle?

Not one of those. I'll see if I can dig up another pic.
So #11 is european?
gasoline-engined?
not american, not european :o
asian, then?
By "not one of those", above, I meant it was not a Brockway, nor an electric vehicle.
This truck is American.
Sorry for the confusion.
Like the Land Rover and Jeep Forward Control versions this might be based on something we might know better?
Was it used as a milk truck, too?
I don't know if it was used as a milk truck. It was built by a well-known manufacturer of cars and trucks.
It has a rather strange body. Something like an airport service vehicle...
Well, my first guess was Jeep, my second is Studebaker.
Unfortunately Salmson is not american...
Yes! Now, can you give the rest of the answer?
#11 is kind of a Jeep airport vehicle... :-\
I only know the FC Jeeps (too big and the Fleetvan (too small, I fear)
No, it's a Studebaker.
So would you accept "Studebaker based airport ground support vehicle" for pic # 11?
Still need the designer.
O.K.:
I´ll go where a man´s got to go and uncover my proposals. I hope I did get all of your questions right and understood them the right way.
So here they are:
#1: VW-Beetle-based Vergo Chiasso 1956, swiss roadster
#2: Alfa Romeo Giulietta Giardinetta Carrozzeria Colli Station Wagon
changed my opinion afterwards: Colli is bullshit this is the BONESCHI WEEKENDINA, based on the AR Giulietta
#3: FSO Warszawa 223 from Poland
#4: Hamblin DeLuxe Roadster ca.1956/57 based on Austin 7/Ford chassis
to be changed? Look at my comment later...
#5: Convair Roadster with Gullwing - Top, based on a MG TC
#6: Seat 1400 C Serra descapotable Frua designed / overall technical layout by Dante Giacosa
#7: Yamaha YX30/II Concept Car 1961, Japan
#8: AGEA (Atelier Genevois d`Etudes Automobiles) de Toledo, ca. 1954/55 with Crosley engine
#9: Austin-licenced Nissan/Datsun A50 Cambridge Countryman, built in Japan
#10: Mazel Identity i1 Concept Car
#11: Studebaker 1964 truck prototype, designed by Randy Faurot
#12: Speedex Sirocco
.
I'll do one more check of your answers before I declare you the winner, but, by Jove, I think you've done it!
The next one will be harder, I promise.
#1: VW-Beetle-based Vergo Chiasso 1956, swiss roadster. Verga, but close enough - correct!
#2: Alfa Romeo Giulietta Giardinetta Carrozzeria Colli Station Wagon. No, but very close.
#3: FSO Warszawa 223 from Poland. Correct!
#4: Hamblin DeLuxe Roadster ca.1956/57 based on Austin 7/Ford chassis. Fill in the blank: Hamblin _________ DeLeLuxe Roadster
#5: Convair Roadster with Gullwing - Top, based on a MG TC. Correct!
#6: Seat 1400 C Serra descapotable Frua designed / overall technical layout by Dante Giacosa. Correct!
#7: Yamaha YX30/II Concept Car 1961, Japan. Correct!
#8: AGEA (Atelier Genevois d`Etudes Automobiles) de Toledo, ca. 1954/55 with Crosley engine. Correct!
#9: Austin-licenced Nissan/Datsun A50 Cambridge Countryman, built in Japan. Correct!
#10: Mazel Identity i1 Concept Car. Correct!
#11: Studebaker 1964 truck prototype, designed by Randy Faurot. Correct!
#12: Speedex Sirocco. Correct!
Oh, come on. I´ve found the Hamblin here (and this was the only picture and lonely source I was able to find in the whole big internet universe):
http://www.1950sspecials.com/hamblin%201.htm
That´s what they say: "Sid Hamblin had been running his panel beating business for a number of years when, in late 1956, with some time on his hands he designed a body shell that could be used on an Austin Seven chassis. In April 1957 he launched what was to become known as the Hamblin Deluxe. Made of aluminium and although designed specifically for the later 6'9" wheelbase chassis, Sid was quite happy to modify a body to suite 6'3" or a Ford 7'4" chassis. No price was ever advertised, but early adds quoted that it would compare favorably with those fibreglass bodies now available."
So maybe this can also be called "Hamblin Seven deluxe Roadster" or "Hamblin Austin Seven deluxe Roadster" or "Hamblin Salmson" at least... ???
I was wrong with the Alfa - it is the:
Alfa Romeo Giulietta, modified to be called afterwards the:
Boneschi Weekendina

Be that as it may, there is more information available than that which you have uncovered so far.
You are kiddin´, aren´t you?
Everywhere I find any information about it it is called the Hamblin DeLuxe.
My last guess without any source would be Hamblin Special DeLuxe Roadster
#4 Hamblin Sports Car from 1958 based on the Austin 7.

Hardass.
:shiner:
you name it...
:-X
Don't forget that the world has other research facilities that the internet.
Books and magazines, for example!
You can be sure I´ve searched through my ca. 1200 automotive books...
Well this seems to be a internet quiz, so it should be possible to solve it via the net, only, too.
I´ve found a pic of one surviving Hamblin:
http://www.1950sspecials.com/PIC_0012.JPG
and some text pieces all speaking just of the Hamblin DeLuxe...
As I can´t find any more infos, there may be some more possible names due to the Super Accessories Connection:
Hamblin Super (Accessories) Deluxe Roadster
Hamblin Montgomery Deluxe Roadster
but I think this is a rather weird discussion, to be honest.
My book refers to it as the Hamblin Dorset Deluxe Roadster.
You've been a good sport, so I'm declaring you the winner. :)
Thank you KarnUtz. ::)
Would you be so kind and uncover the title of the book, you´ve mentioned?
I´m always looking for valuable sources...
Nice try. ;D
well... ;)
