1974 Fiat X1/9 1500
2005 Alfa GT 1,9 JTD

grobmotorix

None of those.

It comes from a european country where there were and are only two major national car companies.

grobmotorix

right country!

but not one of those two manufacturers, of course...

Otto Puzzell

That is an OBC Mantorp.

OBC (sometimes called BCS for Beckmann Cars Sweden AB) or Ottmar Beckman Cars AB was a car manufacturer in Mantorp, Sweden. In 1974 they presented a two seated mid engined sports car called OBC Mantorp (named after the Mantorp Park race track). The design was somewhat similar to the Lotus Elan, but with a more rounded front. It was powered by a BMW engine mated to a Porsche gearbox. Both the chassis and bodywork was in fibreglass. The company planned a production rate of five a day with 100 employees, but it never entered production.

You are just kidding, right? :lmao:

Otto Puzzell

Those aren't my comments; they came from the site that ID'd the car.

Well, maybe there were more than one prototype...

This is the original version of the OPC Mantorp scan posted above:

I was puzzled by the licence plate, which is clearly a German clone. Problem is, no German district has 'GD' registrations, that's why I suggested Austrian. But it was a red herring all along. A great, big, red, boxy herring...

Judging by some of the comments, I would have expected "Gulag Design'

Searching on this one to potentially post it as a new puzzle, I noticed that it is incorrectly titled, as it is an OBC Mantorp, not an OPC.  Thanks.
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Carnut

I'd say this looks like quite a few different cars, but a Lotus is not one of them...!
