I have NO idea, but if it were up to me, I would call it "The Lamprey." :-\
Interesting guess....
Not a Lamprey
What I MEANT was the front reminds me of a lamprey eel. This, by the way, is not meant to be a compliment.
Studying the picture more closely, I see a family resemblence in the shape of the headlight area, the crease down the side and the rear faux brake duct to the first generation Mustang. So, that's my REAL guess. I do frequently make inappropriate and silly guesses in order to maintain a soupcon of levity. Some folks take this stuff very seriously and frankly, I find THAT amusing. Of course I find MOST things amusing.
Perhaps I should see a counsellor...... :-\

Ditto, my deadpan matter-of-fact replies. ;)
I'll explain my "interesting guess" remark after the puzzle is solved.
Not a Mustang, by the way, but I see the resemblance. This car was built and sold (in very small numbers) a few years before the Mustang came to market.
Corvair?
Not a Corvair. This car was built in much smaller numbers.
Based on a Virgil Exner design from about 1960. Lot of these lines used on Valiant and the 1962 Plymouth and Dodge cars that didn't sell too well. I believe Exner lost his job at Chrysler in 1962. This one looks like it was built by someone else, as not a fully integrated Exner design.
It is a limited production of one of Exner's show cars. The production car and the show car have different names, however.
62 Dart
No - the Dart was produced in large numbers. Very few of this car were built / sold.
Lancer
It's the 1961 Plymouth Asymmetrica...the production version of the XNR showcar.
The XNR was sold to an Arab sheik after it ws retired from the show circuit.

Exner left Chrysler in 1961, and was replaced by Elwood P.Engel, who had designed the 1961 Lincoln Continental.

Yes!
It is uncommon to find an image of this car online. The B&W pics are tiny, or behind the Zwischengas firewall. Here is a color image:
I posted too fast. Many images of this car are available online, if you spell the name "Asimmetrica". Rear view:

Correct!
