Lea-Francis Ace of Spades from 1980

No - it's the Lea-Francis Ace of Spades from 1988 

But I'll be generous and give you the point!

The Ace of Spades was constructed from 1976, the first car was finished in 1980.

Ok - I didn't check my sources well enough, I admit. And the marque's owners' club is normally well-informed, so you're probably right about this one.

But at least the particular car in the picture is a 1988 Ace Of Spades

The 1980 car (5500) wasn't called the Ace of Spades and was an open car: the coupé in the photo (5502) was exhibited at the 1988 Motor Show and I think I remember that the "Ace of Spades" name was revived for the next open car (5504) in 1995, the centenary of Lea & Francis.
