Do you remember the model's name?

I know it as the 50HP ZÜST

Wikipedia:

The Italian Zust was a novel opponent at 40 horsepower, 4 cylinders, and 4 speeds.  It had only a 114" wheelbase, but could achieve a top speed of 60 mph.

So it may have been a Züst 40 HP or 40 CV

OK It's all correct, the full name was
Züst 28-45 HP 1908
4 cylindres disp.7432 cc 45 hp circa.

And this was alleged to be the same car after a fire on Bromley South station

It says New York-Paris on the bonnet not Peking-Paris so I suspect it is the Zust from that race

Quite right! There was a remarkable lack of Zust in the Pekin-Paris event

But  Peking is near New-York, isn't it?

Sure. I was just reading an essay about the 100th birthday remembering tour of the 1907 Paris Peking race and messed things up, of course...
