Can you identify this car?

Looks like an out-of-focus early Rover 200 two-door/coupé

Is this some kind of Pontiac spinoff concept based on the early-mid 90's Cutlass?
-
AMC / Renault Allure Prototype.

Karn gets it right. This was the 2 door version of the Eagle Premiere, and Chrysler didn't see a market for it after they bought AMC. There was some hope that this car would mark Chrysler's return to NASCAR in the late '80's-early '90's...but,alas; it never happenned. The Allure was similar to the Cutlass Supreme, which did fairly well in NASCAR, but the hedlight area might have needed a little "tweaking" to really be aerodynamic. The Supreme's lights were flush with the grille, and the Allure's weren't quite.
And since the Premiere didn't exactly set the world on fire sales-wise...

But without it, there would have been no 'groundbreaking' LH cars.

True. I always thought the Premiere was a much better car than it got credit for being. I recently saw a 1991 Dodge Monaco, the Premiere's twin, go for 1500 bucks on eBay...it had 45,000miles and was neat as a pin. A real bargain, until it's time for major service. Chrysler didn't even try to advertize the Premiere, and they should have. It was more aerodynamic than a Taurus, was designed by Guigiaro, and was one of the more economical cars in it's class. It also rode and handled better than all of them. But...nobody knew what it was, and it just didn't sell.

Some more images of the Allure. It was actually a good looking car.
