Do you know what it is?

Judging by the rear fender arch, it sure looks like its related to a Triumph Spitfire SOMEWHERE along the line...... :-\

I don't believe Michelotti was involved...

It has been brought to my attention that it is indeed possible that my previous statement may be in error...Michelotti probably DID have a great deal to do with this car.  Details were somewhat sketchy at the website where  I found this picture, but as near as I can figure, the  car in question is indeed a Triumph Spitfire GT6..  What is special about it is that it was a styling proposal for the 1968 model year; the popup headlights were deemed unsuitable for production because of cost and possible U.S. safety constraints.  Michelotti did indeed build a prototype with popup lights, but the pics I've seen show a different grille and parking light treatment, and  the text seems to indicate that the car was built to MKIV specs.

The car in the photo would have had to have been built in the mid '60's in order to have been considered for production in the late '60's, and the MKIV didn't see the light of day until 1970.  I don't know if the car in the picture was modified in-house or by Michelotti...so, this is complicated.  Can I give each of you a point?

Well, I gave each of you a point...it IS a special bodied car closely related to a Triumph Spitfire, and Michelotti most likely had a hand in building it.  So, you're both right...

I got my original info from <<< link removed >>>...and Karn PM'd me with some additional info from <<< link removed >>>

Here's the pic from that site regarding the MKIV version of the car:

Wihch is fine!  :)

It was your puzzle and you used your judgement.  We all can live with that.

For what it's worth the Coventry registration number seems to be 1963 or earlier.
That may be of no consequence, as recycling of numbers did happen (not always legally!).
