The type of car in this picture is a given. However, can you identify where the picture was taken, and when?

Certainly LOOKS like one of the mansions along Ocean Drive in Newport. But I suppose if you've seen one mansion, you've seen 'em all..... :-\

It is the gates of the Packard Proving Grounds in 49965 Van Dyke Ave, Shelby Township, Macomb County. The Packard Proving Grounds was started to build in 1926 and finished in 1929. Ford bougt the site in 1961 and in 2000 they restored the site together with Packard Motor Car Foundation.

So this picture might have been taken by the opening in 1929?
