1990 COURIER CADILLAC SPECIAL
Whoa, I'm sorry! Way behind on this one.
This is not correct.
That's what it's called here...
http://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/1990-courier-cadillac-special-registration-number-1-c-dav21nhccb
DVLA agrees it's a Cadillac!
The vehicle details for HLN 827V are:
Date of Liability 01 12 2008
Date of First Registration 15 08 1979
Year of Manufacture 1979
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 6604CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Due to Expire
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval null
And this is how it's described by a panel created by the builder, Robert Maidment
Well with this new information, it appears you are correct. I had this as a '79 Maidment Cadillac Seville Roadster, rather than '90 Cadillac Courier. All information seems to fit, so I'm going to be grumpy at my sources. ;D

From the DVLA record, 1979 is the date of first registraion (of the donor car, I assume) so that's where that date comes from and 1990 was when it became a special.
The fact that Maidment trades as Courier gives the other bit of confusion.
Hey ho.
To gain a point, please tell me the make and year of this car please (oh, and sorry for the blurred photo)

Jaguar based?
Made in the UK, but was it meant to look like an American car?
It's in an American neo-retro style, but I think it's trying to look like a pre-war Mercedes!
"neo retro", implying this wasn't made in 30-40, but much newer? Guessing 80s-90s?

Yes, it's post-war, but slightly earlier than the 1980s-90s.

Does it have any Merc parts perchance?
No Mercedes parts to my knowledge.

No former Yugoslavian connections as far as I know.

So part of the name of this new-classic has an American car brand?
This is the Courier Cadillac based on a 1978 Cadillac Seville. Built in Haverhill, Suffolk England by a group of local businesses in the late 1980s as a prototype for a possible production model. It's inspiration was a 500K Mercedes.
I have just read a book about the design and build of the car.
Well done, you've got it, and I didn't know about the book, which looks interesting. The car is currently for sale. Another point to you.
