It's a single carb L14 85hp Nissan Sunny Excellent 1400 PB110. 1972ish

I'm obviously missing something...

I know these Nissan / Datsuns better than anyone. I can even see the motor with the help of that big mirror on the hood.

wait a minute!
the air cleaner is on the same side as the battery. The L-series motor has it on the opposite side of the battery.
is that the factory rotary powered one?

Translation: Under the bonnet of this Excellent is the rotary engine used to advance the development of NISSAN's new rotary, which is based on technology from the NSU Wankel corporation. The swept volume displacement is 2 rotors of 500cc each. Reportedly it used intake ports of the peripheral type.

It has an NSU 1.0L Twin Rotor in it...

it is. I just found that photo I had of it.




But it IS a Datsun Sunny PB110... just with a weird motor.



They did peripheral porting on those from the factory. made about 120bhp!

I was looking right at it too.

if the hood wasn't open and the mirror wasn't on it, it would have just been another Sunny Excellent PB110
