Is this a real functioning car? Looks like a scale (or full-scale) model...

Yep - a real car.

Built by a well-known constructor of competition components and cars, this example was constructed and finished to promote the products of another automotive supplier.

This car's eye-catching appearance is a clue to the supplier it was intended to promote, versus the builder / supplier of the "go" parts.

Is it a electric car, perhaps built for a supplier of tools?
Title: Re: Puzzle #430
Post by: Otto Puzzell on June 28, 2008, 05:35:36 AM
Nope, not electric. The presenter was a supplier of something that is visible in the picture.

If this a clue, I (as a foreigner?) completely missed it. I find a scottish poet, an american photographer, a real estate agent, an artist specialized in bondage, and a character played by Bill Cosby...

I am getting short of ideas, but let's try this:
- Any relation with Ford ?
- Any relation with Jell-O ? (who isn't much of an automotive sipplier, though)

Jello is less connected than Ford, but not completely unconnected.

I'm betting the right Alexander Scott is the photographer who took this picture or something like that. Anyway, could Hella be the car part supplier?

No, internal combustion engine. Pretty conventional car, all in all. The thing they want you to get excited about is clearly visible in this picture.

It's so obvious after knowing the correct direction, but it's still not that easy! Is the coating company from Europe?

It's the 1998 Brabham-Viking Cosworth Sports Racer!

Straight-4, 1600cc, 240hp with twin Weber carbs, cross flow head and dry sump Cosworth engine, Brabham Formula 2 suspension with adjustable shocks and springs, Girling alloy disc brakes, Hewland Mark VIII / IV 4-speed gearbox. It should be quite a nice ride! :D

Alexander Scott checks his bank account balance...

Alexander Scott - one of two principal character in the TV Series "I Spy". Scott was played by Bill Cosby.

One of Bill Cosby's nicknames was "Cos", which was also the name of an hour-long variety show featuring puppets, sketches, and musical numbers, hosted by Cosby, but was canceled within the year.

Why would he check his bank account balance? Why, to help discern his worth, of course.

After the very telling clues early on didn't help, what was I to do?
