Or Hotchkiss, FN, Maxim . . . . ;D
I'm not gettng it.... ???
I think Allan means that Hotchkiss, FN and Maxim were gun makers.
The car, anyway, is a 1929 DuPont Model G Speedster. I would never have found that if I hadn't noticed that the car behind it also had a DuPont hood ornament, a cristal eagle by Lalique (like the one you posted in "Devil is in the details"

So
that's what that is supposed to be!
The site from which I sourced this picture identifies the car as something quite different than a DuPont.
Strange... Mine shows the same two cars, but under the rain, and you can see by the grille that this a duPont.
Wait a minute until I find it and post the link.
I couldn't find it anymore, but here are the same exact two cars at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance. You can read on the board in front of the red car that it's a 1929 duPont.

Odd - I'll check my link, but I'm sure you are correct.
So many things happening now than three days old answers get lost in the lot. Moving this one up front.
You were right, as was the site I pulled the pic from. I made an error in reading the page, and the reference to the pics therein.
