This fourth group puzzle consists of cars that have all got something to do with racing. Most of them are different racing cars in their own right, and some are derived from racing cars. There are 10 of them, and I would like to know the name of the makers and the model designation of each one.

So, what do you say? Do you recognise these?
1974 Fiat X1/9 1500
2005 Alfa GT 1,9 JTD

grobmotorix

Well, no. 1 seems to be a BMW (former Wartburg) Dixi DA3 with a roadster body, maybe a one-off.

1 is a BMW/Dixi 3/15 DA3 Wartburg (licence Austin 7) which seems to be based on an Austin Ulster

Edited to say: beaten to the post!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

I have #1 listed as a 1929 BMW Dixi Sport, so we all obviously know what we're talking about here. #3 is, quite correctly, a March 81P - also powered by BMW. A good start!

#2 - Skoda?

@re

#3 - 1981 March BMW 81P - neilshouse
#4 - 1995 Mosler Intruder - Paul Jaray
#5 - 1990s VBM 4000 GTR - Quiller
#6 - ?
#7 - 2002 Venturi Grand Prix - Paul Jaray

#9 - ?
#10 - ?
1974 Fiat X1/9 1500

Paul Jaray

#8
#2 - Škoda 130 RS ÚVMV typ 739 from 1978 (I was following the same path, but of course this is Quiller's credit...)
#4 - Mosler Intruder from 1995

@re

Close enough - I have the car listed as the Skoda S130 Coupé Rally from the 1980s. But can you explain this: According to my sources this is the Skoda typ 739 from 1978, and it doesn't look much like the car in my picture...

I really would like to, but my time (and my connection) where I am now does not allow me to open all my sources...otherwise there is this very pic on a huge website in Czek, I'm sure you know wich one, and I just pasted that denomination.

@re

You're completely right! I went back there to check, and although I think this isn't necessarily the 739, it's very clear that it's a 130 RS ÚVMV. Case closed!

I think # 10 might be the 2003 Bentley EXP LMGTP car...

Three cars remaining in this one. I'll offer a hint that goes for all three:

They are not Western cars.

I've promoted this so that our Professionals will still be able to guess.

More clues:

#6 and #10 are from the same country. #10 is a very recent project from a renowned racing car manufacturer.

#9 is obviously a rally raid special, but it's built by a company that was founded in 1966, but didn't build a car of its own design until ten years later.

:bump:

That was a big, fat hint on #9! I didn't even remember that I'd given such a clear one.

But maybe one of our newcomers can solve these three remaining: #6, #9 and #10?

So it's not a Hyundai...(1968 Ford Cortina -1975 Hyundai Pony.)

@re

No, it's not.

And the same goes for these three cars as for the City Of Industry II puzzle: All remaining cars are from Europe and Asia. Which means, according to my earlier clues, that there are either two European cars from the same country, and one Asian, or two Asian cars from the same country, and one European.

#9 is a Lada! A Lada Raid SUV Dakar is what I had it listed as.

Which gives this list:

#1 - 1929 BMW Dixi Sport - grobmotorix
#2 - 1978 Skoda 130 RS ÚVMV - Quiller
#3 - 1981 March BMW 81P - neilshouse
#4 - 1995 Mosler Intruder - Paul Jaray
#5 - 1990s VBM 4000 GTR - Quiller
#6 - ?
#7 - 2002 Venturi Grand Prix - Paul Jaray
#8 - 2004 Autobacs Garaiya GT300 R - Quiller
#9 - 2006 Lada Raid SUV Dakar - Joao Gois
#10 - ?

And then I'll help you do the maths here: As Russia is a European country, that means, according to an earlier clue, that the two cars left in this puzzle are both Asian, and both from the same country.

Allemano

#22
Could number #6 be the 1991 Group C Nissan prototype on which Trevor L. Harris was chief designer?

Allemano

#23
Was car #10 already in competition or is it still a project?

It could! I'm holding the point for you, but I'll need you to provide a name for it.

#10 has been raced, yes.
