This reminds me very much of the Ghia Barchetta prototype (ca.1983, Ford Fiesta based), but I think this may be some later kind of replica, imitating the concept car.

Got a bit of a home built vibe with big panel gap and side screens. No idea though.

Nice reasoning! If I had showed you the front of this car, you would have seen that it doesn't look like the Ghia Barchetta from that angle, but I agree that the rest of it is a bit similar. As far as I know it did enter limited production, and that was much later than 1983, so it could indeed have been inspired by that one.

That's the AVA K1, a British kit car made between 1986 and 1991. Ford Escort Mk3 based and a claimed Cd figure of 0.295

I withdraw the comment about it entering production much later than 1983 - I wasn't aware that it was as early as '86. The answer is correct, though - the AVA K1 it is!
