Now defunct, this racecourse occupies a very significant place in American racing history.  And, I've probably given it away...

Not Old Thompson Raceway.  I'm not sure where that track is located, so I can't give a direction from there as a clue.  The type of structure in post #19 is a clue...

Yes, it is Bridgehampton Raceway...the frst purpose-built road racing facility built in the United States.  The bridge in post #19 is the Pulaski Skyway in Newark, New Jersey, about 70 miles or so from Bridgehampton.  Bridgehampton must've been America's Zandvoort...right on the ocean.

The original puzzle image is of Joe Weatherly negotiating the course in 1963.  Bridgehampton closed in 1999; there was talk a few years ago about reopening, but nothing came of it.

As I've stated to Dan, these pictures bring back great memories as I live only about 25 minutes from Bridgehampton Raceway.  I was amazed that someone else actually knew some information about the track.
