If you know this one point will be added to your account.

I hate to say, but it looks like the car from the Robert Smigel cartoon, The Abiguously Gay Duo.

Allemano

Eeeeeh never heard of them before, but then... :lmao:  :lmao:
No, it's not..

JR

This looks like a Toyota prototype from 1977. I don't think it had a proper name. The source I found describes it as the All-aluminium Body Experimental Car but I've seen different variations on the same theme attributed to it.

You're very close to the target. Brand, year of presentation and original purpose are explained correctly.
But it actually had a certain name though not often mentioned.

Two days it's your puzzle otherwise it's open for all again!

Allemano

In a certain way you've already mentioned its name, but not correctly somehow..

JR

Another source has the same photograph captioned as Aluminium Bodied Coupe so I'll try that.

The name is a combination of four letters. A shortcut of this car's main properties... You have it almost said in your 11:00 AM post...

JR

I haven't been able to find an abbreviated name for this one but would guess at A.B.E.C.  I did find a picture of this car with the name in Japanese on a placard at the front, most of which I managed to translate and it ties in with my first answer which came from a Japanese publication.

Just change the last letter and you will be awarded!  ;) (another word for "car")

It's not your turn, yet!   ::)

JR

From your clue A.B.E.A. is the most likely option, but if the last word is Auto/Automobile it sounds like an American re-name.

JR

Allemano

It's neither Auto nor Automobile. It's more generally.

Arunas

Could I try now? Is it A.B.E.V ? V stands for vehicle ???

Allemano

Exactly two days and 28 minutes, unbelievable!!  ;D

But according to our rules I have to give Arunas the point, 'cos he first posted the correct name! It's indeed ABEV!

Sorry JR!

Ray B.

It's true that you followed an usual rule, but this kind of situation is often a dilemma for me. Maybe I would have given a point to JR also. Finding the missing letter in a five letter abreviation is relatively easy once someone has given an almost exact identification.
This said, I came to understand that the only true rule at Autopuzzles is this one: He who posts the puzzle sets his own rules.
He Touched Me With His Noodly Appendage

Allemano

Thanks for your benefit. Just thought about it and came to the conclusion to take your advice!
JR also deserved a point here!

On the other hand: JR had exclusively two days two solve this completely... I'm still not sure!

That means I haven't stolen the point as it has happened for me few times  ;)
