Mystery Truclet - identified - Commer Ute

Anyone know this one? Found in a scrapyard in southern Alberta by an associate of mine. Has a bit of a Standard Vanguard look to it. Maybe Opel.

It looks like a Commer Ute based on the Commer Express van/Hillman Minx.

I agree with that. Indeed it looks like the Commer version (by the badge), 1954-1957 Mk.VIII, though there was also a similar Hillman Ute. I guess there should have been a horizontal bar on the grille, and the hood ornament and the things on top of the front fenders are aftermarket accessories.

Excellent - that seems to be it. Points for both. Thanks for the id and information. I'm going to try to take a look it in the next couple weeks - its in a private yard and my contact can likely get me in. If its cheap enough might be dragged home.

Perhaps based off a Hillman Minx Mark VI? Or Mark VII? Making it a '53 or '54. Must be a rare one either way.
