In this case, the titles of the songs are not always the name of car, but the song is about a car, or cars, or the 'car culture'.
So, to earn points, name the artist, match them to a car, and identify the song that ties them together. Warning some are deceptively easy; others are quite obscure.

I quick hit!
I think I've got another!
No. 6 is Lindsay Buckingham who sung 'Holiday Road' from National Lampoons Vacation, the film featured car #5 the 'Wagon Queen Family Truckster'
Bingo!
Band #3 are T-Rex who had a hit with Jeepster (Car #3).
There's a lot of talk abouts cars and women... but I say yes to cars and music.

Three for three!
Dept. of deception: #4 = Ronnie and the Daytonas. #6 = Studebaker Dictator
What song ties them together?
Sorry: "Antique 32 Studebaker Dictator Coupe".
I know at least one Pro who can clear up some of these mysteries.
I know at least that 1 is Ike Turner and his Rythm Kings (or Kings of Ryhthm) who (under the name of "Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats", but this is too long a story to explain here) created "Rocket 88", and 8 is a 1949 Olds, and maybe a Rocket 88 indeed.
That I can't exactly say because if it IS an 88, someone playfully erased its Rocket 88 emblem on the trunk.
Tuners 9 are the Brian Setzer Orchestra who did "Brand new Cadillac", and Car 10 is a Cadillac, but it doesn't look quite brand new.
Damned too late!
But still have one (admit little!) chance: Brian Setzer's (tuners 9) former band "The Stray Cats" had a small hit with "Look at that Cadillac" (car 10)

Nope, that's not a brand new Cadillac, so it's not that song.

No problemo: it's only half of Setzer's songs that talk of cars. We just need to listen to all of them.
I've got a good one for the car #10 (1955 Cadillac hearse): Peppermint Harris, who the same year sang "Cadillac Funeral", but I can't find a picture that matches it.

The right band and the right car (generally speaking) were ID'd. Now, what song by that band connects it to the specific car pictures.
Now, if half of Brian Setzer songs speak of cars, half of that half speak of Cadillacs. I found 3 other songs so far (and none seem to match a 1955 Cadillac hearse...)
Nevermind. Complying with the Erbas rule I'll start with this one:
Americano.
The body style is not as important as the year, for the purposes of this puzzle.
I am coming back with 2 possible links between Tune 9 (Brian Setzer Orchestra) and Car 10 (1955 Cadillac). They don't completely satisfy me but...
The first one is the song "Elvis on Velvet". It doesn't specifically refer to Cadillac, but does to driving and 1955, and what car do you imagine Elvis in, except a Cadillac? The problem is that song was created by the Straycats, Brian's first group, and not by the BSO.
My second possible link's shortcoming is that it's not a tune but an instrument:
- Brian Setzer plays a Gretsch White Falcon, a guitar that was called "the Cadillac of guitars", and introduced in 1955. So all of Setzer's song feature a "1955 Cadillac".
What about this one: Band #5 is Santana, and Car #7, besides being a 1961 Chevy Impala, is a lowrider.
They are linked by "Low-Rider", a song by Santana.

I wasn't aware of the name of his guitar, but what I'm looking for is the link between the car and the band pictured, via a specific song.

Close, but no. To the best of my knowledge, there is no connection to the band Santana
To narrow it down: is that related song from the very same "Brian Setzer" album we see thumbnailed in your first post?
No - that album is a selection of re-worked classical compositions.
The album containing the song in question has no such longhair aspirations.
Damn, damn, and damn!
Aaaarrgh! I know musican #6, but can't remember the name! :hyper:

He's already been ID'd. (Holiday Road & Lindsey Buckingham)

Not many music fans about. :(
I think that the problem, with these group and matching puzzles, is that it's hard for puzzlers to save them in a practical form on their HD.
I usually download the images of the puzzles I'm interested in in a file. No problemo for ordinary puzzles.
For group puzzles, the best would be to save and print a whole image of the first post, so one can have it with him when he does his research. And that's impossible. And also to save and print the post by the author of the puzzle where he states which ones are solved, and which ones are not.
So, in order to be comfortable, you'd need to have whether these prints, whether a computer with three screens: one for the images (and still they don't fit all in a screen), one for the results and one for you research.
I forge to say that your music puzzles are really tough, but that is part of the fun, naturally.
Good idea - I'll look into a printable puzzle summary
I know it ain't easy, but it's a pity to leave a nice puzzle like this unattended.
What about some clues?
And where are the Beach Boys?
Besides, the car has already been identified an linked.

Otto, could you please sum up what's been found and linked? We're getting mixed up her. Thanks.

Probably far too obvious, but No.5 could be the "pretty cool wagon...we call it a woody....not very cherry, it's an oldie but a goodie" mentioned in the Beach Boys song Surf City.
While Brian Wilson co-wrote this song, it was a hit for Jan and Dean. The song mentions a '30 Ford wagon, not a pretty cool wagon. And as Ray stated, the correct song / car / artist connection is long since solved.
Plenty more to be solved here - keep at it! :)

Darn it - I know theres a song with Barracuda in the lyrics because they sing it more like Bac-a-ruda.
So car #1 Barracuda group #2 Quantum Jump
Nope.
OoooooooooK
car #1 Plymouth Barracuda group #2 Angot Wat
No...
Clue: the picture of the artist is approximately the same vintage as that car.
I doubt it very much, but I have to check.
Car #2 being a Ford Skyliner, could Artist #10 be Charlie Barnet's Orchestra (with a singer i haven't identified)? He wrote "Skyliner".

No. But you are working very hard at this puzzle, and have earned a clue. The pairing of this colorful car and associated artist are locked for you until this time tomorrow.
The car you have identified is almost identical to an example owned by the artist, who so loved the car, she (another clue) proceeded to write a song about a certain aspect of it's appearance - but mentions no car. Her Ford was customized to reflect her profession, and her stage name.
Thanks for the clue. It didn't get me nowhere yet, but thanks anyway. Those puzzles maybe require a much wider music culture than I have I am afraid.
Question: are car #1 and car #9 named by their make or model name in the corresponding songs, or not?
Car #1, yes.
# 9 features more than one car, from different makes, and the title of the song implies the same.

Granted, this artist is not as well-known as some of the others. However, she did score some top-10 hits on the country charts, and made it into the top 100 on the pop charts in the US, as well. Unusual for a woman (at least, in the '50's and '60's), she also was a record producer, and worked the mixer board to great effect for a well-known recording trio of the era. That group had a handful of top-10 hits, including a couple of number 1 hits. At least one of there songs was covered by another artist in the UK, where it was a hit. Like most music that was carefully crafted, tasteful and and restrained, their recordings - which resonated with fans of doo-wop, R&B and mainstream pop - fell out of favor when the Moptops and their ilk came on the scene. The drafting of 1/3 of the trio into the armed forces (indeed - the only member who
could have been drafted) sealed their fate.
Thanks. Let's dig that.
Car #2, a 1957 Ford Skyliner, goes with Tuner #10, Bonnie Guitar (who produced The Fleetwoods from another puzzle). They could be linked, I'd say, by her 1959 song "Candy Apple Red". I couln't find the song's lyrics or mp3, but "candy apple red" is the name of a color frequently used on custom cars.
And all the time I was searching for the other girl.
You have done it! I have the lyrics at home (not much of a song, really - I may have an audio file as well). It's been covered by other artists.
I'll update the first page of the post from home, to.
Yes, but I have little hope for the last two pairs.
Just look at #9. What, collectively, do you see in that picture?
I see a combo of young americans, and I'd say californians. One of them wears a striped shirt so I would even have said the Beach Boys if their hairdo had matched better.

They are not the Beach Boys, but one of them WAS a Beach Boy, both before and long after this picture was taken. And to save a journey down a dead-end, it's not Glen Campbell.
Well, following your clue, I have "The Lost Beach Boy" David Marks and the Marksmen (Tunes# 2) and I guess that the link is their song "Kustom Kar Show", for Car #9.
You are the master!
Your last answer made that one easy.
About the last one, are we entitled to ask:
- if Barracuda is part of the song's name, or only mentioned in the lyrics?
- in the song, is it referred to as the car, or the fish, or whatever.
- Did the girl # 7 write the song, or did she just sing it?
A cavalcade of clues:
Our last unidentified artist (who liked her men short-tempered) appeared, along with a well-known singer/actor in a movie about cars, that is rather well-known by you Ray, I suspect. The last unidentified song was featured in that movie, but as an instrumental by another group.
It was was a song about a car, not a fish.
She didn't write it.
Most of the songs in this film were written or co-written by a famous singer who shared his surname with the star of this film.
And here's another clue, to confuse (or clarify) things further, she also had a minor hit with a vocal version of a movie theme that was a much bigger seller when recorded as an instrumental by another group of musicians.
My God! You do know music and musicians!
All I do is remembering some stuff, and sleuthing.
Alright. Let's get to work, Marlowe.

Candy apple kisses too
And I have the lips of a fool
I kissed you

Sweet, sweet with lies they told

I've got the last one:
The Girl #7 is Joanie Sommers. The movie is "The Lively Set", whose male star is James Darren. The song is "Boss Barracuda", as Car #1, written by Bobby Darin (ha-ha) but performed here by the Surfaris.
I didn't find evidence on Imdb that Bobby Darin appeared in the film, I couldn't find the lyrics either, but everything else fits.
I had of course studied photos of the Surfaris, having found their connection with that song, in vain (same with The Catalinas, who played it too). And Otto is right, I had already used a pic from "The Lively Set" in a former puzzle: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=4124.0 Guess which one.

Voila! You make Sherlock Holmes look like the Fourth Stooge. ;D
(And I never said Bobby Darin appeared in "The Lively Set".) The other movie-related song Joanie had a B-side hit with was the theme from "A Summer Place". It was the flip side of her better-known "Johnny Get Angry". As a matter of fact, I heard it for the first time this past Saturday morning, while listening to an oldies radio show. Previously, I had only heard the version (very different lyrics) sung by Mole-Man on "The Simpsons".
I have a recording of "Boss Barracuda" somewhere in my CD's - by another artist. I'll dig it up and send you an MP3.
I'll tally up the points soon.
Edit: Sorry, I don't have "Boss Barracuda" - I have "Bite Bite Barracuda" by Buddy Randell & The Knickerbockers. Still happy to send a copy, if you'd like.
