Not a flock of Moskvitches

if those cars aren't Moskvitchs, they are АЗЛК 400/401 or Opel Kadett '1938–40

My source was a bit confusing. it made me believe that these 4 door Kadetts were only made for the destination in the picture. After rereading it, I found that this is not the case.

I think that the location of this batch of cars is still pretty special, given the situation in the world at that time. So: were and when was this picture taken?

I really don't know when and where this pic was taken. But, I would guess that this is some german harbor on North Sea ( Hamburg, maybe ) and those are Opel Kadetts for export during WW2. Or it is some russian harbor ( Vladivodsktok, on Pacific ) and those are АЗЛК or Moskvitchs for export during first years of Cold War...

These are Kadetts, but this picture was taken at the port of arrival...

Hi,

Right hand drive? UK or UK colonies?

Yes, indeed. sorry to have kept you waiting!

These cars were delivered in the UK in 1939, so it must have been before September 3th when Britain declared war on Germany. I wonder if these ever got sold? Who would want to drive a brand new German car during the war in the UK?
