What's the make and model of this obscurity?

Arthur Dent

Looks rather Ford/Mazda-ish.

If not Australian, how about South African?

pieter

No. (I did not place the quiz - I live in South Africa)

Quiller

South African  :(

Ford/Mazda-ish  :)

Quiller

Who knows this one among the pros?

Quiller

Time for a clue. Look carefully at the  front end of the car and you might recognise what it's based on

grobmotorix

Well it looked very Mazda 323F-ish just seconds after I´ve seen it for the first time, but that´s all I can tell about it...

Indeed....  :eyebrow:

@re

I agree, I used to own a 323F and recognised it instantly. But it doesn't go with the pick-up concept. And We've been told that it isn't South African - if it hadn't been for that I would have asked if it could possibly have been some kind of a prototype for a replacement for the Mazda Rustler, a SA-only pick-up based on the previous-generation 323/Familia. But it doesn't really loke like a prototype, either.

It looks like a strange hardtop-solution. Maybe they had to add that phatass-trunk to store it there...

Maybe a british conversion?

Quiller

It's not British...

Quiller

 :bump:

So... what could this Mazda 323F based thing be?

Nothing to do with Ford. Much more to do with Mazda...

The writing on the rear quarter looks like Coca Cola script.  Is that a cooler in the back?
