What's the name of this car?
Moved up
It is a DD, a french microcar built for colonial markets ( Indochina, Moroccco... ) from 1949 to 1950 ; very few were made.
That's remarkable - I didn't think it would be so easy!
Any more info, please?
This appears in the Beaulieu Encyclopedia:
D.D. (VIETNAM/MOROCCO) 1949-1950
Marcel Degant had a plan to replace Vietnamese rickshaws, whose passengers were carried ahead of the driver, with a safer vehicle. He designed the car in France but set up finance to produce the car in Saigon. He hired Louis Descloitre to design a small open three-wheeler powered by a 125cc Jonghi engine, with a single driver up front using handlebars and space for two passengers behind. Only six cars had been built before Degant decamped for Marrakech in Morocco, where a further 36 cars were made. Financial problems caused in part by the alcoholism of Degant ended the project prematurely.
