What's the make and model designation of this car?
-
Up to the Xs
-
Bizzarrini 1900 GT?
-
Not that...
-
Must say I would have said the same thing: Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europa!
Will have to look for something else that used the same body...!
-
Opel GT proposal by Bizzarrini?

Opel GT proposal by Bizzarrini?
The 1.9 engine in the Bizzarrini GT Europa was actually an Opel engine wasn't it?

If I'm correct, not all of the cars were equipped with an Opel engine.
Wasn't the car first intended to be an Opel?...therefore my guess...
-
The first car(s) had a Fiat engine
-
This is not Opel-engined ...
-
Proper pro pickings
-
There definetely was one with a BMW engine
-
May it be the "Bizza" 1500?
-
An Alfa-based prototype?
-
This is a little-know Bizzarrini variant. Not powered by an Opel or Alfa engine, nor is this one of the early Fiat 1500-powered examples

Neither?
-
Could it be this one?
BIZZARRINI 5300 GT AMERICA • # BA4 201/7413
Bought by Paolo Pratali (Pisa) from the factory bankruptcy in 1972 as new rolling chassis (60 %) without engine, gearbox, interior and front body.
Car completed by Pisa mecanic and road registered with chassis number 7413/13 as a one off prototype with a Fiat 6 Cylinders 2300 cc.
1975 - Sold to a dealer who sold it to USA .
Fiat engine removed and replaced with a Chevrolet unit
Giotto Bizzarrini added a Bizzarrini chassis number "BA4 201" when the car came back from USA as it was the chassis number who belong to this car.
1980 - sold back to Italy (Mr Pratali accept to make a invoice to the italian new owner as the targa was never cancelled)
1986 - for sale in Florence .
2001 - for sale in Italy
The last Bizzarrini 5300 America Race car built.

The body seems definetly the 1500/1900 one, according to the line of the side-windows continuing on the roof.
This car was equipped with Fiat and Opel engines. Your reply about Fiat engine seems vague, is there a Fiat engine?
-
I remind a Bizzarrini with a Fiat 128 Rally engine...I'll look for more.
EDIT - nothing to do with that, but, probably, I found a full pic of this car with no details...

Here you are:
-
Paul, is your picture mirrored ?
-
Nope, this is how it looks in an old encyclopedia.
I also noticed the differences...probably it was printed like that.
-
Hmmm, a lot to reply to here.
Not BMW-engined.
Not a 5300 GT.
Paul J has come closest....

Bizzarrini 1500 Berlinetta?
-
Bizzarrini made 2 different cars with the Fiat 128 rally engine, the one in 1971 (the one in the puzzle) was shown at the Nardi stand and had a plastic body, the other in 1972 and was a red barchetta, with big fins.

That's correct - this is the Fiat 128-engined Bizzarrini as shown at the 1971 Turin show. It's sometimes called the Bizzarrini 128P and predates the more well-known barchetta.
Here's the full picture I have:
-
From what I gather the Bizzarrini 128P was the name given to the later barchetta-bodied car, which was fully known as the 128P Targa Florio. This Bizzarrini seems to be called the 1300 Sport.

This car appears in Winston Goodfellow's Bizzarrini book on p121, and there it's captioned as the 128P.
Interestingly, it's mid-engined.
