Since it's not a sprint, I'll go for a Clubman Coupe?

What about Alan L on this? He seems to be a bit unchallenged!
It can't be so hard anymore as you already have the make.

I missed this last month when I was away, but I don't remember anything looking like this from Robin Read's Dante Engineering Co. (in Luton, about 12 miles from me).
The sprint/hillclimb start looks familiar but I can't even place that at present.
There might be more to the Marcos guess than you think, as Jem Marsh (the "Mar" in Marcos) worked at Dante for a while before setting up Speedex

it was recently for sale..

I do not have too much infos about that car, so I didn't know the Marcos connection.

I still don't remember either the vehicle or the hillclimb.
For the benefit of younger readers, the "vaccum cleaner" in the hillclimb start photo is normally called a "hockey stick" and was the device that generated a signal to start the timing. It had electrical contacts that were closed by running over the head of the device, which was positioned just in front of the competitor's front wheel. Deft stick-work was necessary to avoid it being destroyed by the spinning rear wheel that followed unbelievably shortly after the front wheel had cleared it.
Used on the back wheel in the (rare) case of front-wheel drive cars.

I didn't dare to ask about the vacuum cleaner, but what else should it be? ;D

A BIG hint:
a meanwhile retired female tennis player wears the same (fore)name. She was on top three of women's professional ranking and was rather attractive
(as always: beauty is in the eyes of the beholder)

correction: to make it even easier I made a mistake: the tennis lady is written with only one "L".

We have a winner!  :applause: :applause: :applause:

It's indeed the Dante Gabriella Coupé from 1958.
It was on ebay a couple of months ago (Google still shows one broken link).
Unfortunately I couldn't find any other source.
