Not really. Apparently they are hand-built at a rate of 5 a month and sold mostly to farmers. The body is customizable according to the wishes of the buyer.

No. This is a very small-scale operation, these trucks are built for the local populace in a shop in a Syrian town. The vehicles are not even registered. I guess that given the situation in Syria, the authorities have more pressing concerns than going after unregistered vehicles...

Yes, point for Djetset. I had a different name for the builder, Abdo Abu Yazen, but anyway, the truck is indeed known as Al-Halawiya (الحلفاوية) and hand-built in the town of Halfaya in Western Syria.
