Carnut

Looks French to me with those wheels, although it could conceivably be German.
Matra?

French it is, Matra it is not.

This is the Ferry which participated at the 1950 Lemans race.  It was based on the Renault 4CV

Don't think I would ever have got there with that one!
Looks very advanced for 1949 (not like me, who was also born that year..)

I think Carnut has got a point in that this car looks more modern than 1949... According to René Bell ( http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=8928.msg67081#msg67081 ) the first Ferry drove Le Mans in 1950, but  the version shown here (Same shape, same details, same racing number, same license plate) dates from 1956.

Ooooops!
You're totally right, Mike. I took this picture on the internet in didn't check in my Bellu book. This is the 1956 version, with a 904 cc engine.
I would feel bad if I took back pnegyesi's point (why don't you guys choose logins that can be pronounced in most languages...), because he's only half wrong. This is still a Ferry, still based on a 4CV. But I guess you deserve one yourself for correcting me.
Here is a picture of the Le Mans car, very different indeed.

Well, Negyesi is my name so it is only logical to have it as login. Methinks  :-[

:bag: Sorry pal! It's the p that maybe makes it hard to say. And of course anyone is free to use whatever he wants. It's just me who have trouble remebering unpronouncable logins when I heve to type them.
