Sure looks like a Fiero Based somethingorother.  Those wheels...... :yuck:

But I'm probably wrong. More than likely it is yet another of the ubiquitous Tatras that have flooded our shores...... ::)

Not a Tatra. Predates the Fiero by quite a few years.

Predates the Fiero by quite a few years.

Well, now.....I am going to say that those wheels are American

A. Is it American?

It doth appear to be mid-engined. Can't think of too many mid engined American cars of ANY era, except that Mustang I you put up last week. The one with the Saab V-4 in it.    ;)

B.  Is it in fact a mid or rear engined vehicle?

Seems to me Renault did some messing around with this sort of stuff at one time. An Alpine or some sort?    ???

It is American, it is mid-engined, and it has a much heartier engine than the Mustang I V4.

Oh HO!  A thumping American V-8 perhaps?

I am totally clueless here.  The shape of the body looks like nothing I know of. The wheels look like something from Chrysler. Or AMC.

I'm reaching, I know...... ???

The front looks like an Opel GT to me, and the wheels look Opel to me too....as far as the rest of it, I'll guess that it's an Opiero.

1967 Ford Mach II concept to be exact.

Quote
1967 MACH II
As Ford's international racing effort blossomed in the latter half of the '60s--most notably winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans--the company considered various exotic street machines in order to homologate more race cars. One of these was the Mach II showcar. This running prototype was considered a replacement for the highly successful but limited-volume Shelby Cobra. For optimum track performance, the concept was a 2-passenger with its engine behind the passenger compartment.

Here's a more focused picture of the car.

Is it true that there was at least two Mach II's? One was made in 1967 (puzzle car) and the other one - in 1970, designed by Larry Shinoda.
