9 really easy points up for grabs here! This may even help some rookies get closer to expert status!
The first set of pictures shows postwar models of 8 different makes, all well-known. The second set shows prewar models of the same 8 makes.
One point will be awarded for each match between the two sets of pictures, along with the make name (model name optional). A further point will be rewarded to whoever can name the simple, but very specific, common ground between all the makes! (Hint: The common ground is relevant to the pictures.)
First set:
Second set:
OK, I guess this wasn't "rookie-easy" like I thought... Either that, or we just don't have many rookies right now.
*sigh* - Oh well, time to toss this to the experts, who will likely devour it on short order.
Let's try:
A1 Victoria 250 - B4
A2 Rambler American - B7
A3 Audi A4 Avant - B6
A4 Lloyd LC-300 - B2?
A5 Mitsubishi Minica - B3
A6 David - B5?
A7 Trojan Heinkel - B8
A8 Talbot Samba - B1
Whew! I didn't think it would be quite that easy.
Anyway, not all matches are correct, and the common ground has not been pointed out.
A1 Victoria 250 - B4 - correct - Dynamike
A2 Rambler American - B7 - incorrect match
A3 Audi A4 Avant - B6 - correct - Dynamike
A4 Lloyd LC-300 - B2? - correct - Dynamike
A5 Mitsubishi Minica - B3 - correct - Dynamike
A6 David - B5? - incorrect match
A7 Trojan Heinkel - B8 - correct - Dynamike
A8 Talbot Samba - B1 - correct - Dynamike
Since it's a no-brainer to make the last 2 correct matches, anyone making them will also have to name the common ground to get the points.
OK, so I guess I'm going to have to throw this to the pros for the last little piece??
A2 Rambler American - B5
A6 David - B7 ?
;D
The common ground may be the years of activity of the makers? (pre-war period and post-war?)
Right, but as I said, you need to name the common ground between the makes to claim the last points.
(EDIT: I wrote this before he added the last line to his post above.)
Common ground can be that all these makes were active in 2 separate periods pre and post 2nd WW..
Rambler 1902-1913 and 1950-1970
Victoria 1900-1909 and 1957-1958
Trojan 1922-1936 and 1962-1965
Talbot 1903-1938 and 1979-1986
Audi 1910-1939 and 1965-who knows
David 1913-1923 and 1951-1957
Mitsubishi 1917-1921 and 1959-who knows
Lloyd 1906-1914 and 1950-1963
That'll do it.
My criteria for picking the makes also included the fact that each make's periods of activity were separated by over 25 years (not counting some one-offs that a couple of the makes had).
Very cool puzzle - nicely done!
