Just to add a little more:

Jim Byers and Dick Jones were partners in making the Meteor (see Solved puzzle NEH 51) and when Jones moved to California he took the design with him.  Byers changed the sides and rear and called his version the Byers SR-100.  Kellison also listed the SR-100 later on.
