Presented as (custom maybe?) one-off or a concept/prototype of any company?

Paul Jaray

Not from a company but a one-off built for a reason.

Are the car in the drawing and the photo supposed to be the same car? I see little in common between the two.

You are right, but it's the best shot of this car that I found on the web...the drawing was the original idea for this car,,,

A British colur supplement ( Daily Telegraph ?) held a competition in the late sixties early seventies for the design  of a sports/GT car based on Ford Escort running gear.  The prize was that the winning design would be built and exhibited at Earls Court.  Is this the car?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

Paul Jaray

A kind of competition that is not so unusual, nowadays...

University of Toronto hybrid (hand-made machine) is the best I can find...

Paul Jaray

Enough!
This car, nicknamed UT1,was an Hybrid-car made by the University of Toronto to enter the 'Clean-Air Car Race' in 1970. This car was powered by a v8 Chevy engine converted to propane and an aircraft starter\generator. Chassis and running gear, basically Corvair, had been modified to carry ten 12-volt batteries.
Well done, Arunas, this was quite hard!
