Do you know what this is?
What is it based on?, what is its name and who did the bodywork? The one with the complete answer on this awaits one point

I had a picture of this car in a book when I was a kid, so I recognised it straight away. :D

It's a Pegaso Z102, but while I can find lots of pictures of that model, I can't find the coachbuilder's name.
A bit more digging has unearthed this..

QuoteThe featured Pegaso Z102 is one of just two built and the sole survivor fitted with the so called 'Cupola' coupe bodywork. Built by the factory the coupe body sports an unusually large and bulbuous rear window, which resulted in the 'Cupola' nickname. It was displayed at the 1953 New York Auto Show before being sold to President Trujillo of the Dominican Replubic. That's whn it received its second nickname 'El Dominicano.' Originally painted yellow with red wheels, it has more recently been repainted silver. For nearly two decades it was part of the Rosso Bianco collection and is now in the Louwman Collection where it is pictured. It is currently being restored.
I'm seeing the names Wilfredo Ricart, the former Alfa Romeo designer and ENASA being used in conjunction for this car as designer and biulder, but from what I can see, ENASA is the parent company of Pegaso, so whether that counts as 'who built it' I'll leave up to you.

That is indeed the car! well done.
I have only another coachbuilder for this though , but I am not completly sure if my source is correct.
I will leave this open for a while and award you one point when I move this to solved.

So...... another point for the one who has proof who really built this

A bit more digging suggests that the full name of this car is a Pegaso Z-102 Touring Coupe Aerodinamica Cupola, so the coachbuilder would be Touring of Milan.
Yes, no?  :)

This car, chassis 0-0121, was made in 1952 and displayed at the New York Auto Show the following year.
It was also know as the 'Rosa De The' but it was not coachbuilt by Touring.

:-\Can you tell me by who it was? was it  Saoutchik ?

Paul Jaray

I believe it was built by the factory.
There were a total of 84 Pegaso and 1 revival:
5 0f them had 2 different bodies (#0-0109 - 3-0110 - 3-0129 - 0-0140 - 0-0142)

1 was a simple chassis (#3-0124)
IAD: 1 body, the revival one.
ENASA: 14 bodies
Saoutchik: 18 bodies
Serra: 6 bodies
Touring: 42 bodies
Factory built: 8  bodies (The 2 spyder Rabassada #0-0109, the 3 Bisiluro #3-0110 and 3-0111 and the 2 Cupola #0-0120 and 0-0121 and the perspex exposition prototype  #0-0123)

Thanks for the additional info PJ!, and off cource the very nice picture.

Was at least my source correct on the name in the title? When a source is wrong about who in fact built it, I always have my doubts.

One thing I found that didn't help when searching for information on this car was that some sources give its nickname as "Cupola", as in English, some as "Cúpula", as in Spanish, and others as "Cupula" without the accent. :-\
