Ray B.

Who is he, and what special contribution did he bring to the car culture?

Art and cars. Painters, writers, musicians, actors, movie makers: in a nutshell, artists. Cars of special importance in their work, or in their life.

A 2 point puzzle. Rule is: you identify the artist, you have one week to find the rest of the answer. After that, the hunt is opened and anyone can rob you of your second point.
Thanks!

Is his art computer animation?
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Ray B.

No, more traditional (and no animation either).

Clue time:
The colors of the picture could help you spot the place and time in which he became famous.

Pinstriper Jeff Scozzaro?

Ray B.

Neither Von Dutch or Scozzaro, nor a pinstriper of any kind.
When I spoke of his contribution to car culture, I didn't mean that he actually painted or drew ON the cars.

Ray B.

No. He didn't paint cars, built cars, customized, upholstered cars or whatever.
Is that clear enough?

Spain\Sixties?

Ray B.

Spain, no.
Sixties, that's for sure (at least he begun at that time).

Not Ed Kienholz (there was a former Art &Cars puzzle about him).

LSD colours – GB or USA?

Ray B.

Psychedelic, yes.
USA. You can even get more precise.

Could it be the Cartoonist Gilbert Shelton?

Ray B.

Exactly!
Now you've got one week.

Okay let's start here: is the car content of one of his comics (Motoring Tips) ?
If so, I would go for a Odmobile Cutlass 1973-77

Is that the one you mean below?

You already gave the answer, if you read the puzzle right: his contribution to the car culture is his series "Gilbert Shelton's Advanced Motoring Tips".
My favorites being those involving the Citroën Two CeeVee, as he pronounced it, for which he had a weird love and obsession.

Just forgot the exact instruction of the puzzle and was in search for a particular car, but every dog has his day...

Knew Shelton from his very funny "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers", but never recognized how he looks like.

BTW: the 2CV strip is :lmao:  :lmao:
