Title: Barrett's #20 solved- Nelco (or Nelson) Solocar

Well, I think this was the only puzzle I had 'unsolved' before my accidental ban  ::) I'll move it straight to the experts! A point if you can identify it!

't Could be a Duth-build Lely.
Problem with these kind of "cars" is that there is little distinction between them visibly.

It is an invalid carriage, but not called an 'Invacar'

I can remember the odd one or two of these still in use when I was a kid in the late 50s/early 60s.

I think it's British, and I think this one is a Nelco Solocar, though there is another one with a slightly different name. It was electrically powered, and the speed was controlled by twisting the spade handle grip on the steering tiller.

I got it as a Reselco Solocar "The Reselco Solocar was first introduced in 1935. Built from gauge steel the Solocar was designed for disabled drivers.  It was powered by a 36 volt electric engine that drove directly onto the transaxle at the rear of the car giving the vehicle a maximum speed of 12 mph. The engine was accessible through a boot at the rear. The Solocar featured tiller steering, hand brake, horn and lights as well as full sized car brakes. The car was produced up until the 1960’s".

Reselco was the other name I had too. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between them.

Well, thats the same car in my pictures so I guess that's proof enough! Like you say, I guess Nelco is a shortening of Nelson company.... The Rolsesco has a slightly different front cowl, although it's hard to see in the pictures...

The Nelco Solocar in general was in production from 1929 to 1967, being produced, first at Maidenhead, Berkshire from 1929 to 1952, and then Hammersmith, London from 1952 to 1967 after production was taken over by Reselco Invalid Carriages Ltd. Around 3,000 were produced in total, and 36 are known to the Invalid Carriage Register.
