It's an Arnott, which was made in Harlesden, London by Ms Daphne Arnott in 1954-55. It was offered with Austin or Coventry Climax power and one was enterred for the '55 Le Mans 24 Hours. The marque found greater success in the half-litre Formula Three class, making as many as 25 cars in total.

This car is currently for sale in the UK, at £70,000(!!!!!!!).  If anyone is tempted, I have the owner's telephone number (oh, and the car is painted orange!)

That does seem a bit rich! I think the colour suits the shape though... Here is the unmodified picture and what I presume is the one for sale now...

£20,000 for the car and £50,000 for the registration number probably!

And now it's up for auction at Silverstone next Wednesday 7th December.
Note the estimate is a (very slightly) more realistic £50-60,000!

I wonder if it just never sold or if it's the buyer moving it on again..  I would bet my money on the former!

Yup, it's the former, as it is still owned by Formula Junior guru Duncan Rabagliati who has been trying to sell it for quite some time.

Right.  He liquidated most of his collection a few years ago, didn't he?  I wonder why he kept this one;  probably because no-one else wanted it...

A 1954 Arnott with Lea-Francis engine is up for auction at Aalholm, estimate just € 3,000-5,000:

(Edit: I guess the estimate was a little low. It sold for more than 45,000 €.)
