This is my first puzzle of that kind.

So for point #1: who is he?

And point #2: what´s the car? Who, where and when did it race with this number? solved by Maxmotor

And point #3: this very automobile had an interesting success many years later, too - which one? solved by Maxmotor

No, not this guy, I´m sorry, but you definitly know more than others....

faksta

Looks like one of the South American carretera cars.

Maxmotor

looks more like a Touring-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 to me

Touring - yes
Alfa Romeo - yes
6C 2300 - no

Maxmotor

You're not suggesting this is an 8C 2900 ?

From the questions you've asked it's tempting to think this could be Emilio Romano's 1938 car which won the Mille Miglia in 1947, but the engine slats this close to the door shutline indicate this is no 2.9

It definitly is an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B, but not the one of signore Romano.

But that facts are not enough for a point...

Maxmotor

My bad, these louvers are a specific feature of the Jon Shirley Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B (s/n 412035) which won both Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este Concours in the past couple years.

The photo must be taken in 1948, showing then owner Frank Griswold who entered the car and won the Formule Libre race at the SCCA's Watkins Glen Grand Prix

Very good Maxmotor, that´s two point for you!

You´ve named the exact car and the two events I wanted to know here.

But the person is not Mr. Griswold...

Carry on guys.

Open for all others again!

I think that is Charles Addams--cartoonist who also raced at the '48 Glen...
