AKA - Pro's and Feature Writers Friday Fun(?) Artist and Car (puzzle)

This artist is relatively obscure, but his work has been mentioned in another puzzle solved in the last 1/2 dozen months. He was ultimately not associated with that puzzle, but could have been inspired by it.

So, who is he, and what's the connection?

No sir. He was not guessed as a possible puzzle solution, but one of his works was mentioned in a non-guess reply to puzzle that was not of the Art & Cars variety.
