As the year comes to a close, one more request for the Pros.

What is it, and who built it?

Some relation to Chevrolet? It has a far resemblance to the '88 Venture concept.

Not a Chevrolet.

You are more or less correct geographically.

Looks very Ford Taurus-ish. Or Mercury Sable-ish, really.

Hey, @re - great to see you!

Not a Taurus or Sable.

Not a Ford of any type or brand.

The tyres look rather narrow. Any kind of hybrid or low-energy competitor?

No, not a hybrid.

Do you mean not the "Big 3"? Then yes. But independent? Hardly.

Yes I meant "not from the BIG 3"

Is it from an auto parts supplier?
Title: Re: Puzzle #1398
Post by: Otto Puzzell on January 26, 2010, 03:17:06 AM
No, not exactly.

The design/build team for this car was headed up by a relatively well-known designer, who had sold a kit car with his own name, and had produced a couple of one-off's that starred on the small screen. Both of them have been puzzles here. This puzzle car was not TV star, it was constructed for a company best known for producing cars.

With all of these clues, I suspect this one will not last much longer.

The designer is from the West coast of the US. He's associated with other one-off's associated with the same manufacturer this one's tied to. At least one of them is solved puzzle here.

Uh, oh, Spaghetti-O's! Auto parts often come in a box. Think outside the box. But not too far outside.

Lots of time to think in the Black Hole!

If one of the gulls or boys who frequent our site had time to look through all of PJ's puzzles in the 'solved' section, the designer's name would be solved.

Image lost in purge.  Does anyone have a picture of this concept?
Title: Re: Puzzle #1398 - Curt Brubaker Concept for AMC/Renault

To be very precise. None of the images were lost in the purge. The connections between the puzzles and the puzzles images were lost. Most of the puzzle images are named by the forum engine and this connection table matched the images with the puzzles. What we tried to do is to match the original time of the puzzle with pictures uploaded around the same time. That is how a lot of puzzle pictures were restored and that is why there are puzzle pictures appearing at strange places.

Luckily OP's early puzzles can be recognised by their name so I restored the picture here, but this is a time consuming process.
