Hi, that seems a Jaguar xk120-based barchetta by Mistral from 1955.
You're partially correct - this car is not based on a Jaguar, and Mistral is not the name of the manufacturer.
D'oh...that is a Microplas Mk2 Mistral.
The car in that pic is an MGA built in 1956, first registered in Feb 1957 in Southend on Sea, UK. The car now has MGB running gear with overdrive box. The body shell is a rare Microplas Mistral built in the 1950's as a aftermarket racing car shell. This appeared in eBay in late September, 2005.
Correct - nicely done. :)
Identify this for 1 point:

It's a Mistral body but nothing to do with Fairthorpe.
Since you're half way there I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to come up with the mechanical part.
If you can't fully identify it in that time I'll open it up again.
MG - possibly MGA
