Can you name the make and model designation of this apparently bland machine?
Is it a Nissan Pintara 5 door hatch?
Possibly a TRX or Turbo version
You're very much on the right lines, but the puzzle car is not strictly a Pintara ...
Ok, Nissan Bluebird - was called a Pintara in Australia
You were closer with your first guess...
I believe that the 5 door version of the Pintara was sometimes called a Super Hatch
OK yes, this car was known as the Nissan Pintara Superhatch - but also by a different name. Do you know it?
Due to a model sharing arrangement between Nissan and Ford Australia, this vehicle was also sold in Australia as a Ford Corsair liftback with Ghia and Turbo variants.
Outside of Australia, I believe that this vehicle was sold under the model names of Nissan Stanza and Nissan Sentra.

You've found the Ford Corsair - well done! However this is not one of those...
(Follow the line of reasoning in your second statement ;))
Nissan Stanza Wagon?
no wait, that generation Stanza wagon was a rebadged Nissan Prairie
That's not the Autech SSS-R is it?
in NZ it was sold as the Nissan Bluebird Wagon
Many darts, no bullseye ...
Nissan Skyline GTS2 Wagon? RB30 powered?

...
The U12 "Matilda".
???
The second gen Pintara was known in Australia as the U12 and was initially known by the moniker of "project Matilda" in the motor media. Apparently that's not what you're looking for. It was also sold in Japan and New Zealand as the Nissan Bluebird.
Thanks for the explanation.
The name I'm looking for has not been said yet ...
Do you have the answer?
All the information that I can find says that this body shape was originally developed in Australia where it was sold as a Nissan Pintara Superhatch the car was also subsequently exported to New Zealand where it was sold as a Nissan Bluebird Superhatch.
The car in the pic is righthand drive so there are very few other markets where it could have been sold maybe, South Africa, England or Japan although I don't think that it would have found its way back to Japan,
Please put me out of my misery on this one.
All you say is correct - apart from one surmise.
Can anyone do the misery-put-out-of-ness bit?
Has the picture been reversed? ie is it actually LHD?

Isn't that against the rules?!
I don't think the photo has been reversed. The fuel filler is visible, and is on the left hand side of the car, where you'd expect it to be.

Is this a Nissan Pintara Ti Superhatch?
I found an image online with this designation and the mud flaps and lower body cladding look the same.

yes it is basically a Pintara Superhatch BUT the puzzle car goes under a different name...
Is it a Primera ( P10 ) 5 door hatchback?
Not that ...
call me when it's over... I haven't a clue now.
Ok - it is Pro Time!
Was it assembled in Thailand ?
This car was sold in Venezuela as Toyota Sky
This isn't Thai or Venezuelan...
Nissan Pintara TRX Sportshatch
The puzzle car isn't badged Pintara...
Nissan Stanza TRX Superhatch?
Nor badged Stanza...
Is it from Taiwan?
Not Taiwan.
The puzzle car was, however, sold in a specific market
Was that market Japan?

yes it was ! Permission to land ...
Could this be a Bluebird SSS?
I think it is the Nissan Aussie, built in Australia and sold appropriately as the Aussie in Japan only.
Streuth, what a sleuth!
Yes indeed, it's the Nissan Aussie - the Australian-built Nissan Pintara as exported to Japan. Only 1000 were sent over, each one with a stuffed toy koala in the glovebox. I kid you not!
