Title: Q709 - solved - Nicolas Bitar's VW-based buggy from Lebanon
Post by: Quiller on August 16, 2010, 08:58:56 AM
I only have a country and a year for this one - that will earn you one point
If you can identify the builder, an extra point awaits  :)
Edit: I now have the identity of the builder also

Looking at that car in the garage, I would think it is French

I have this listed as "Lebanese VW-Buggy".
I think the year is 1976 (built on a 1956 VW base).
I don't know the name of the constructor.

You are correct, well done!
You have one point, but I'll keep the puzzle open to find if anyone knows the builder's name

I can offer you a rear-view, but still no idea who the builder was!
I'm sure I've seen it somewhere though so will keep digging:

It was for sale at the 1984 Essen Motor Show, obviously...

So you must have his name, too.

Some frenchman living in the Lebanon, named Nicholas ?????, then 25 years old has built it and it was shown in hall #10.
I cannot read the rest, but you will tell us...

It seems something like 'Bilar', but I asked the owner and I'm waiting for a reply.

Ah you've been in touch with the builder too!
Away from home at the moment but I'm pretty sure you've got the name right.
A rare example of a car built in Lebanon...
