French, Renault based, I'd say... But not quite Alpine.

Agree French!
Reg. no. is for the Departement Puy de Dome, but that's not a great motor manufacturing area. However Michelin is there, so the reg. no. could be a red herring.
I recognise that I've seen those rear lamps - but can't remember on what (might be an early Peugeot 403?):-[
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Very good, Allan L.

#13
Who built it, and what is it based on for a point

Renault 4cv , coachwork Rosier , circa '53 ?

barrett

Well done, I thought this would make it a little higher! #
Perhaps one of our French speakers can translate the following blurb; Also here are two more recent shots supplied by Carnut, who also had this queued up as a future puzzle

The 4CV by Louis Rosier
an excellent coupe "made in Turin"

In out last issue we presented a Renault 4CV tuned by D.B. and we anounced more of these.
Here we are, and it's a merit of Louis Rosier to be the first to have shown a fully accomplished car.
His small coupe, designed and built by Motto in Turin, is very different from the silhouette of our well known 4CV.
The small coupe by Louis Rosier is seductive, excellent with respect to aerodynamism, in every way successful.
Because of its low height (120 cm), low ground clearance (18 cm) and its weight of 500 kgs one can expect nice performances.
Louis Rosier, who is very optimistic, speaks about no less than 180 km/h. Let's say taht with the 1063 mechanics some 155-160 km/h would already be very nice.
Still optimistic he anounces that if the price could be lowered to 800.000 francs he'd make a small series of this car. Which will mean that this car will stay unique, unless our French champion would feel the need to be a maecenas or even a philanthropist!
A curved windscreen, an Italian body, Rudge wheels, racing mechanics, 160 km/h, all that for 800.000 francs?
That would be so nice!

It is listed as 'Les Rosier' instead of 'Louis Rosier', and I think '4CV' should be part of the name as well.
Almost 4 years ago Alan L wondered about where he had seen those taillights before. These were used on many French cars, mainly the upmarket makes like Delahaye and Talbot, and usually in white as front side lamps or indicators. Only mass produced car that used them was the Panhard Dyna X.

Please re-read Grob's ID, which I believe is correct. This one's quite old, and the original source long since lost to me.
